How can I enable Chromecast?
Chromecast via Android
Make sure your Chromecast and Android device (phone or tablet) are connected to the same wireless network.
- Open the discovery+ app on your Android device, and then find the Chromecast icon (upper-right corner).
- Choose the Chromecast icon to see a list of Chromecast devices found.
- Select your Chromecast device.
When the Chromecast icon turns blue, you're ready to watch your selected programme.
Want to stop watching the programme on your TV? Pause your Android screen and then choose X (upper-right corner).
Chromecast via iOS
Start by making sure your Chromecast and iOS device (iPhone or iPad) are connected to the same wireless network.
- Open the discovery+ app on your iOS device and look for the Chromecast icon (upper-right corner).
- Choose the Chromecast icon to see a list of Chromecast devices found.
- Select your Chromecast device.
When the Chromecast icon turns white, you're ready to watch your selected programme.
Want to stop watching the programme on your TV? Tap the Chromecast icon on your iOS device and then choose Disconnect.
Chromecast via Computer
To use Chromecast on your computer, make sure your Chromecast and computer (PC or Mac) are connected to the same wireless network and that you've downloaded the Google Chrome browser.
- Open discoveryplus.co.uk in Google Chrome on your Computer (PC, Mac) and select the programme you want to watch.
- Choose the Chromecast icon in the playback bar (right corner).
Don't see the Chromecast icon? Then choose the three dots in the upper-right corner, and then choose Cast. - Choose the Chromecast icon to see a list of Chromecast devices found.
- Select your Chromecast device.
- Choose the Chromecast icon (upper-right corner).
When the Chromecast icon turns blue, you're ready to watch your selected programme.
Want to pause / stop the programme on your TV? Choose the Chromecast icon on your computer to access the playback menu.
Why can't I Chromecast on the discovery+ app?
discovery+ and your Chromecast device may not be communicating effectively. We recommend the following steps to try to solve the problem:
- Make sure your phone (or tablet) and your Chromecast device are connected to the same WiFi network.
- Check the connection to the network and that your Internet is working properly.
- Close the discovery+ app.
- Unplug the power source from your Chromecast device, wait two minutes and then plug the power source back in.
- Then wait a few moments for your Chromecast device to reboot and turn back on. Re-open the discovery+ app.
- Try and cast your favourite discovery+ show on your TV.
