Kids profiles and parental controls

When a Kids Profile is turned on, you'll be able to choose a suitable content rating for your child. Only content with that rating will be available to stream, as well as sports content, depending on your subscription.

You'll also be able to create secure PINs to prevent your child or their younger siblings from accessing the profile without parental supervision, or from accessing other profiles with higher content rating settings.

Create a Kids Profile

1. Sign in to your account.
2. Go to Manage Profiles.
3. Choose + to create a new profile.
4. Turn on the Kids Profile toggle.
5. Change the default content rating.
6. Choose Save.

Note  You can't turn an existing profile into a Kids Profile.

Add a PIN to a profile

1. Sign in to your account.
2. Go to Manage Profiles.
3. Choose a profile to edit.
4. On the Edit Profile screen, choose Create PIN.
5. Enter your account password.
6. Create your 4-digit PIN, then choose Save.

How do I reset a profile PIN?

If you’ve forgotten the PIN for one of your profiles, or wish to change it, follow the steps below:

1. Sign in to your account.
2. Go to Manage Profiles.
3. Select a profile.
4. On the Edit Profile screen, select Manage PIN.
5. Enter your account password.
6. Check your PIN or create a new one.
7. Select Save.

To ensure your parental controls work, we recommend keeping your account password a secret from Kids Profile users. The account password will allow them to access profiles, change settings and unlock higher or unsuitable content ratings.

What are the content ratings on discovery+?

General viewing; suitable for all ages

PG: Parental Guidance

Suitable for all ages, but some scenes may require parental supervision or discretion.

12/12A: 12 years and over

Children younger than 12 should not stream content with this rating without adult supervision.

15: 15 years and over

Children and teens younger than 15 should not stream content with this rating.

18: 18 years and over

Adult content; not suitable for children or young teens.

Please note: When turning on parental controls on a Kids Profile, you’ll notice that you can only choose content ratings up to 12. Ratings 15 and above are automatically blocked from Kids Profiles in the UK.
